Service Dog Training

Nothing makes me happier than helping clients achieve the best possible relationship with their dogs. I work hard to provide solid, effective training and behavior modification advice -- stuff that makes sense, that's do-able, that moves you efficiently to your goals, while maintaining science-based, gentle techniques.

My training business was established full-time in 1991, with services including private lessons, group classes, behavior consultations, puppy board & train, and remote consultations.

A favorite chapter in my career was working as head trainer for a pet/prison program (Pixie's Pen Pals) at numerous prisons in the central VA area. Hard-to-adopt shelter dogs are placed with qualified inmates, living at the prison 24/7, until trained and ready to be adopted to the public. I was also an executive trainer for a therapy dog organization based in NYC.

I've co-produced the Bow Wow clicker training DVDs that are sold worldwide. And for six years, I was a ClickerExpo faculty member.

My own dogs have been involved in animal acting, herding, agility, and pet therapy visits. In addition to having many dogs over the years, I've also had the pleasure of living with cats, rats, ducks, goats, guinea pigs, agoutis, and rabbits.
