Irith Bloom is the owner of The Sophisticated Dog, LLC, a pet training business offering online training worldwide, as well as in-home private training for clients in Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, Santa Monica, and some of the surrounding areas. Irith uses positive reinforcement methods to help you and your pets achieve your goals.

Irith has been training animals since the 1980s. In addition to training dogs, she also has experience training other animals (such as cats, rabbits, and horses) and can help you with all of your pet training needs. She is committed to using pet-friendly methods and treating both animals and humans with respect and compassion. She believes that training should be enjoyable for all involved, people and pets alike.

Irith is fluent in English, Hebrew, and Japanese, and can work with you using any of those languages.

Irith is on the faculty at Victoria Stilwell Academy for Dog Training and Behavior and DogBiz’s Dog Walking Academy. In addition to being a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner, Irith is also a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (Knowledge & Skills Assessed), a Certified Behavior Consultant Canine, a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant, a Certified Separation Anxiety Instructor, a Certified Behavior Adjustment Training Instructor, and a Victoria Stilwell Positively Dog Trainer, as well as being certified in TAGteach, a positive-reinforcement method for teaching humans.

In addition to running her company, The Sophisticated Dog, LLC, Irith is on the board of the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT), Chair Emeritus of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) Education Committee, and a former member of the APDT Legislative Task Force. She also volunteers with National English Shepherd Rescue; the Los Angeles County 2020 Healthy Pets Healthy Families Coalition (a One Health initiative aimed at improving the health and well-being of people and their pets throughout Los Angeles County); and Wallis Annenberg PetSpace.
