Debra (Deb) Duwe is a teacher/trainer in North Idaho/, Eastern Washington and beyond. She is delighted to offer training for both people and their dogs at Four Paws Dog Training. Her motto is “Catch them being good!” a motto that captures the essence of “clicker” and positive-reinforcement training. Deb’s goal for her canine and human students is to gain valuable skills that build a healthy cooperative relationship based on “best practices” and force-free training techniques. In this way, confidence is built for both the dog and the owner.

Deb’s passion for teaching led her to a career with humans, from infants to adults, for many years. Her career has included teaching, mentoring and coaching teachers, parents and school administration. In 2013, Deb’s focus shifted as she welcomed a new dog into her household. A teacher at heart, she knew that there must be a way to train dogs that mirrored good teaching and learning for humans. When Deb discovered “clicker training” and Karen Pryor Academy, the journey began!

In 2013, Deb spent a week with Canine Assistants, an organization that trains service dogs. In 2014, she completed the Karen Pryor Academy Dog Trainer Foundations course; in 2015, she began the Karen Pryor Academy Dog Trainer Professional course. Deb and her yellow Lab, Charlee, are proud to be graduates and KPA Certified Training Partners (CTP). The journey continues, as Deb is a lifelong learner who continues to learn through ClickerExpo and other professional seminars.
