Dog Training

My interest in becoming a trainer began with volunteering for a foster-based, grassroots animal rescue, Wine Country Animal Lovers (serving Napa, Sonoma, and Lake counties in California). I joined the organization initially as a rescue foster parent, adopted a homeless and injured puppy, and finally added adoptions counselor and board member to my responsibilities. While I was serving in this rescue community, it occurred to me that an in-depth knowledge of animal behavior and training would allow me to help abandoned pets get adopted and stay adopted.

I approach training with a modern, choice-driven, compassionate methodology that is grounded in the science of behavior. If you train with me, we will use positive-reinforcement and rewards-based techniques that are free from pain, force, and intimidation.

My services include pre-puppy preparation consultations, behavior consultations, customized day training and/or private coaching, supervised puppy socials. Services are provided in-person and virtually (when appropriate) over Zoom. I help animal clients of all ages, from puppy through adult, and cover basic manners as well as behavior modification. If your dog suffers from extreme anxiety or aggression, I will connect you with a qualified force-free specialist or veterinary behaviorist.
