Got this question again today and figured I'd post the answer here since it comes up so often. Yes, they calm down, but not as fast as people expect and not as much as people hope. Coco was a lot at one year. By two she settled into more of a couch potato with bursts of energy. By three she's mostly chill unless something exciting happens. If you're getting a Frenchie expecting a low energy dog from day one, you're going to be surprised for at least the first year or two. Worth knowing before you bring one home, not after.

A breeder being honest about timelines rather than simply making a sale is the kind of thing that builds real trust. I wish more sellers, of anything, operated this way.
This matches what's typically seen in the breed. Maturity timelines vary, but most small breeds don't fully settle until somewhere around 2 to 3 years old, later than people expect. Good of you to set realistic expectations upfront instead of letting buyers find out the hard way.
