My kids treat our Cavalier like a stuffed animal and the dog seems totally fine with it

We got Biscuit a year ago thinking he'd be a good family dog and honestly he's exceeded what I expected. My two kids (5 and 7) drag him around, dress him in random hats, and he just kind of... lets them. Doesn't growl, doesn't try to get away, just rolls with it. Started wondering if this is just Biscuit being a chill dog or if this is actually a breed thing with Cavaliers. We're thinking about a second dog eventually and want to know if we got lucky or if this is what to expect.

We went through something similar with our Lab when our kids were little. Some breeds really are just built different when it comes to patience. Sounds like Biscuit's a keeper either way.

This is honestly such a sweet thing to read. I don't have a Cavalier but I know people who do and they all say the same thing, super gentle with kids, almost no edge to them at all. Sounds like you picked a great breed for your family setup.

There's actually a real temperament basis here, not just luck. Cavaliers were bred specifically as companion dogs, so a high tolerance for handling and closeness is part of the breed's general profile, not unique to Biscuit. Doesn't mean every individual dog will be the same, but the odds are in your favor with this breed specifically.
