"She's fine, she's just a small dog" — no she is not fine, she is overheating
Had someone at the dog park tell me Pepper was "probably just being dramatic" panting hard in the shade. She's a 5 lb Chihuahua, she overheats faster than basically any dog there and nobody seems to get that small breeds are not automatically more heat-tolerant just because they're small. If anything it's the opposite. Tired of people not taking it seriously.

Oh I feel this in my SOUL, Gizmo gets the same "he's fine he's small" comments constantly. People need to actually watch the dog instead of guessing based on size

People assume small equals tough equals fine in heat, none of those things are actually connected. Small dogs often overheat faster, more surface area per pound of body weight. You're right to push back on that.
