Raya has been destroying the backyard all week and I know exactly why — she has nothing to do
Took the holiday off, figured she'd enjoy a lazy few days like the rest of us. Instead she's dug three holes, chewed through a hose, and paced the fence line for an hour straight yesterday. This breed genuinely cannot just relax without a job, and I forgot how fast that shows up when the structure disappears for even a few days.

Had a Malinois mix decades back working the ranch, same story, give her a job or she'll invent one and you won't like it. Sounds like she just needs her holiday cut short.

This is a very impressive breed, though clearly demanding in the right way. If anyone else is considering one after reading this, there is a good selection of working dog breeders listed here: https://allinpets.com/pets/dogs/
This tracks completely, Malinois were bred for constant working drive, downtime without a task is basically its own kind of stress for them. There's a solid breed overview on this exact trait if it helps explain it to anyone in your house who thinks she's just being bad: Belgian Malinois: The Ultimate Working Dog (https://allinpets.com/blog/dog-breeds/belgian-malinois-the-ultimate-working-dog-15/)
