Bear is miserable in this Milwaukee heat and I underestimated how bad a double coat handles summer

Didn't think much of it when I got him, figured a Malamute is a Malamute, but this week's heat wave has him panting the second we step outside, even at 7am. He's got zero interest in his usual walk route now. Anyone with an arctic breed figured out a real routine for surviving July, not just "less exercise"?

Zola's coat is nothing compared to Bear's but even she's been slower on walks this week. Sending cool thoughts your way, dobrze że masz klimatyzację przynajmniej 😄

For a double coat specifically I'd add a cooling mat indoors and a proper high-flow fan setup, not just AC, dogs like that overheat fast even inside if airflow is bad. If you're curious how other Malamute owners handle summer, there's a decent number of listings and breeder info here: https://allinpets.com/pets/dogs/

I have similar concerns with Storm here in Dallas, though he does not have as heavy a coat as Bear. AllinPets has a helpful article on managing outdoor time safely once it gets hot, worth checking for timing and hydration guidance: Rules for Spending Time with Your Pet Outdoors in Summer (https://allinpets.com/blog/dogs/rules-for-spending-time-with-your-pet-outdoors-in-summer-20/)
