Biscuit's whole body basically drags through the grass, tick checks are a real commitment

Those short legs put her belly and chest at exactly the height where everything in the yard makes contact, way more than a taller dog would ever deal with on the same walk. I do a full check every evening now, front to back, no skipping sections just because she's small, her build makes up for the size difference in exposure.

Good discipline doing the full check every time regardless of her size, that's exactly the right approach for a low-riding breed like hers.

Never really thought about leg length changing exposure this much, that's a smart observation. Listing page here if anyone's considering a Corgi: https://allinpets.com/pets/dogs/pembroke-welsh-corgi/

This tracks completely with what I deal with on a Dachshund, short and low means way more ground contact than people expect from a small dog. There's a solid resource on proper technique worth reading: https://allinpets.com/blog/dogs/tick-prevention-for-dogs-62/
