Found an irritated patch on Scout after our longest trail run of the summer
She's short-coated so I figured spotting anything would be easy, and it was, a raw patch near her flank showed up almost immediately after we got home. Vet confirmed flea allergy dermatitis, likely just one bite picked up somewhere on the trail. Kind of a relief it wasn't something worse, but also a reminder that high-mileage trail dogs pick up more than just mud out there.

Glad it cleared up and wasn't anything more serious. Sounds like you and Scout make a great, attentive trail team together.
High-mileage trail dogs really do pick up more exposure than people expect, good catch on your part. Listing page here if anyone's considering a Vizsla: https://allinpets.com/pets/dogs/vizsla/
Short coats make spotting a reaction fast, which is a small silver lining at least, glad it turned out to be manageable. There's a thorough piece on this exact scenario worth reading: https://allinpets.com/blog/dogs/flea-allergy-dermatitis-in-dogs-signs-causes-and-treatment-64/
