Freya let me brush her for exactly four minutes today and then decided the session was over

Afghan Hounds are famously independent and I knew that going in, but the grooming routine really does test it. She'll tolerate the brush until she simply, calmly, decides she's done, no drama, no protest, just gets up and walks away mid-stroke. Four minutes was actually a personal best today.

Four minutes and a clean exit, no drama at all, honestly sounds like she's got better boundaries than most people I know 😄

Might be worth trying short sessions timed to exactly her limit and slowly stretching it, rather than fighting for more each time. There's a decent spread of Afghan Hound listings here if you're ever curious what others in the breed look like coat-wise: https://allinpets.com/pets/dogs/

This tracks with everything about the breed's temperament (independent almost to a fault, in the best way). There's a great overview on Afghan Hounds if anyone wants the full picture before considering one: Afghan Hounds: The Elegant and Loyal Sighthound (https://allinpets.com/blog/dog-breeds/afghan-hounds-the-elegant-and-loyal-sighthound-10/)
