Gumbo's screened porch time and the heartworm conversation nobody has about it

He's got his little spot out there most mornings, screen's solid, but I got to thinking about how much a mosquito really needs to get through and realized screened isn't the same as sealed. Vet confirmed prevention still matters even for a porch-only cat, no exceptions just because there's mesh between him and the yard. Small thing but worth mentioning for anybody with a similar setup down here.

Never thought about the screen thing this way honestly, makes total sense once you say it out loud. Good on you and the vet for not letting the setup create a false sense of security.

A reasonable and slightly unsettling point, screens have gaps whether we like to think about it or not. If anyone's curious about Turkish Angoras, listing page here: https://allinpets.com/pets/cats/turkish-angora/

Screened is not sealed, good catch. Same conversation I had about Salem's indoor exposure. Solid piece on this exact misconception: https://allinpets.com/blog/dogs/heartworm-prevention-for-dogs-doses-testing-and-treatment-63/
