Otis and the great patio standoff of July
He loves sitting out on the covered patio in the mornings but Tucson afternoons are a different story entirely, ground's basically a stovetop by 11am. Learned fast that even a shaded patio isn't automatically safe once the concrete's absorbed enough heat. He's not thrilled about the earlier cutoff time but his paws will thank me eventually, assuming cats feel gratitude, which I remain skeptical of.

"Assuming cats feel gratitude, which I remain skeptical of" is extremely accurate and made me laugh. Smart call cutting the patio time short regardless of whether Otis appreciates it
People underestimate ground heat constantly, applies just as much to cats as small dogs. If anyone wants Scottish Fold listings: https://allinpets.com/pets/cats/scottish-fold/
Correct read on the concrete, shade doesn't offset radiant heat coming up from the ground itself, common oversight. Related breed background here: https://allinpets.com/blog/cats/top-10-largest-cat-breeds-that-ll-steal-your-heart-18/
