The desert-means-no-fleas myth needs to die

Had someone tell me flea prevention was basically overkill in Tucson because "it's too dry out here for fleas to survive." Otis is indoor mostly but does get patio time, and reading into it more, fleas thrive just fine in the microclimate around a shaded, watered yard even in a genuinely dry region overall. Desert doesn't mean immune, just means the risk shows up in different spots than people expect.

"Desert doesn't mean immune" should honestly be printed on a poster somewhere. Glad you're not falling for the myth just because the overall climate looks dry.

Never thought about a shaded, watered yard basically creating its own little microclimate for fleas, that's a smart point. If anyone's curious about the breed, listing page here: https://allinpets.com/pets/cats/scottish-fold/
