Smokey sheds enough every June to build a second cat
He's a Persian, so I knew shedding would be a thing, but summer hits different. I'm vacuuming twice a day and still finding fur in places he's never even been. Daily brushing barely makes a dent. Is this just the price of owning a long-haired cat or is there something I'm missing.

This is basically a hardware problem lol. A proper deshedding tool (not the cheap slicker brushes) plus a high suction vacuum made specifically for pet hair changed things for Byte. Brushing alone won't keep up with a Persian's undercoat in shedding season.
King does this too every spring/summer and honestly nothing fully fixes it 😭 deshedding brush + regular baths helped the most for us, baths feel insane for a cat but it really cuts down the loose undercoat
A few practical steps. One, increase brushing to daily during peak shedding, not just a few times a week. Two, check his diet has enough omega fatty acids, coat health affects shed volume. Three, a humidifier can help if your home air is very dry, which makes shedding worse.
