Vet reminded me Smokey still needs heartworm prevention despite being 100% indoor
Told him Smokey's never so much as looked at a window screen funny, let alone gone outside. Vet was unmoved. Apparently mosquitoes get in through doors, screens, whatever tiny gap exists, and cats have it worse than dogs if they do get infected since there's no real treatment option. Fine. Continuing the prevention. Smokey remains unimpressed by this development, as he is by most things.

If anyone wants current info on Persians, listing page here: https://allinpets.com/pets/cats/persian/
This made me laugh, "unimpressed by this development, as he is by most things" is such a cat summary. Nala's the same, indoor only but we never skip her prevention either.
Same conversation I had about Salem. Vet was right, mosquitoes don't care about your window screens. Good detailed piece on the cat side specifically: https://allinpets.com/blog/dogs/heartworm-prevention-for-dogs-doses-testing-and-treatment-63/
