Zeus's annual heartworm test, still treating it as mandatory not optional
Some guys at the training group mentioned skipping the yearly test since their dogs never miss a dose, figured I'd push back on that here too. A missed pharmacy refill, a skipped dose you don't even remember, any of it can happen to anyone, and the test is the only way to actually know for sure. Zeus gets tested every single year without exception, no debate about it in my house.

Good on you for pushing back on that at the training group, that kind of complacency spreads fast if nobody says anything.
Correcto. Never skip the test. Confidence is not the same as certainty. Listing page here for anyone considering the breed: https://allinpets.com/pets/dogs/german-shepherd/
This is such an important point, even the most consistent owner can have a gap they don't remember, the test removes all the guesswork. There's a solid detailed piece on exactly why annual testing matters: https://allinpets.com/blog/dogs/heartworm-prevention-for-dogs-doses-testing-and-treatment-63/
