Is my Siamese too vocal or is this normal?

Hi all, I have a question and I think it might be a silly one but I'd really appreciate input. Luna is 4 months old and she is SO vocal — she basically narrates everything she does, meows at me from across the apartment, and sometimes just seems to be having a full conversation with no one. I've read that Siamese are known for this but I guess I didn't expect quite this much? I don't want to discourage her if it's normal personality, but I also want to make sure she's not stressed or trying to tell me something is wrong. Would love to hear from people with more Siamese experience than me.

Vocal and social is very much a Siamese trademark, Priya — nothing to worry about. If you ever want to talk to other Siamese owners or breeders about temperament before getting a second cat: allinpets.com/pets/cats/siamese

omg King does this too but he's a Maine Coon so I always thought it was just him being extra lol 😭 maybe vocal cats just find each other. anyway Luna sounds adorable, mine also has full "conversations" with me especially around dinner time 💅

This is completely normal Siamese behavior, Priya — honestly one of the most talkative breeds out there (right up there with Maine Coons, though for different reasons). As long as Luna is eating, using the litter box normally, and her body language is relaxed when she's "talking," it's just personality. I'd only worry if the vocalizing became more frequent/urgent-sounding alongside other changes like appetite or litter box habits.

ngl this thread is making me paranoid for my friend's corgi too lol. didn't know this was a whole breed thing. thanks for the heads up Rachel

I think (as far as I know, don't quote me) Siamese are often described as one of the "most dog-like" cat breeds because of how attached and vocal they are? I might have that wrong but it sounds consistent with what you're describing. Pebble is the opposite — barely makes a sound, so I don't have direct experience, but this seems to track with everything I've read.
