Rajah's annual heartworm test came back clean, and here's why I never skip it

He's got outdoor patio access plus a decent amount of supervised yard time, so I don't fool myself into thinking indoor cat rules apply to him. Vet ran the test at his checkup like always, negative, prevention renewed for another year. Feels like a small ritual at this point but an important one given how much time he actually spends outside compared to a strictly indoor cat.

Glad it came back clean, sounds like Rajah's living a pretty good outdoor-cat life out there.

Makes sense, outdoor access changes the whole risk calculation no matter how careful you are otherwise. Listing page here if anyone's curious about the breed: https://allinpets.com/pets/cats/abyssinian/

Good instinct not applying indoor-cat assumptions to a cat with real outdoor access, that distinction matters a lot. There's a solid piece explaining exactly why annual testing matters regardless of cat lifestyle: https://allinpets.com/blog/dogs/heartworm-prevention-for-dogs-doses-testing-and-treatment-63/
