Short coat does not mean low parasite risk, learned this with Athena
People assume a short-haired breed like a Doberman is somehow easier to monitor for skin issues, and visually that's true, but she still developed a raw irritated patch on her flank last week from what turned out to be a flea allergy reaction, not an infestation, just one bite. Coat length changes how easy it is to SEE a problem, not how likely the problem is to happen in the first place.
