Short coat, easy to check, still worth checking thoroughly

People assume a breed like this needs less attention on the skin side because there's nowhere for anything to hide, and while that's true for visibility, it doesn't mean lower actual risk. Ran a full check on Rocco after reading up on flea allergy reactions and he was clear, but the point stands regardless of what I found this time. Short coat makes spotting a problem easier, not less likely to happen in the first place.

This is such a smart mindset honestly, most people only check once something looks wrong instead of doing it as routine maintenance.

Good on you for checking proactively instead of waiting for symptoms to show up first. Listing page here for anyone considering the breed: https://allinpets.com/pets/dogs/american-staffordshire-terrier/

Exactly the distinction people miss, visibility and risk are two completely different things. There's a thorough piece on this exact point: https://allinpets.com/blog/dogs/flea-allergy-dermatitis-in-dogs-signs-causes-and-treatment-64/
