Short coat, sensitive skin, spotted a reaction almost the moment it appeared
Blaze's coat is basically nonexistent in the summer months, sweater weather doesn't kick in for him until much later, and that thin coat means a raw patch showed up glaringly obvious within a day of him picking something up on a run. Vet confirmed flea allergy dermatitis, treated fast specifically because there was nowhere for it to hide. Silver lining to having basically no coat to speak of I suppose.

Never thought about a thin coat being a genuine advantage for catching something fast, that's a good way to look at it. Listing page here for anyone considering a Whippet: https://allinpets.com/pets/dogs/whippet/
Thin-coated breeds really do have that early-detection advantage, glad it worked in Blaze's favor for a fast diagnosis. There's a thorough piece on this exact reaction worth reading: https://allinpets.com/blog/dogs/flea-allergy-dermatitis-in-dogs-signs-causes-and-treatment-64/
