Two different animals, two completely different heat needs, one small house
Buster (Lab) wants to be outside every waking minute regardless of temperature, Mittens just wants the coolest tile spot in the house and to be left alone. We've landed on staggered outdoor time for Buster (early/late only) and just making sure Mittens always has access to the bathroom floor tile she loves. Anyone else juggling completely opposite heat tolerances under one roof this summer?

Love that you're meeting each of them where they actually are instead of one blanket rule for both. Honey's the same as Buster honestly, no sense of self-preservation when it comes to heat
This is so relatable 😭 King (Maine Coon) is the exact same, just wants the coolest floor spot and zero interaction till it passes. If anyone's curious about Labs, listings here: https://allinpets.com/pets/dogs/labrador-retriever/
Staggered outdoor time is the move for a Lab in summer, they've got zero self-restraint about heat on their own. General reference here covers a lot of the same logic: https://allinpets.com/blog/dogs/rules-for-spending-time-with-your-pet-outdoors-in-summer-20/
