Sunny's screened patio time and a heartworm conversation I wasn't expecting

He's got a little screened-in spot he lounges in most afternoons, ocean breeze coming through, seemed pretty low-risk to me honestly. Vet mentioned screens don't fully block mosquitoes and San Diego's coastal humidity keeps them around longer into the evening than I'd assumed. Kept him on prevention year round after that conversation, figured better safe than sorry given how much time he spends out there.

Sunny's got the good life out there on that patio, glad you're keeping him protected while he enjoys it.

Coastal humidity definitely extends mosquito activity later into the evening than people expect, smart to stay ahead of it. If anyone's curious about the breed, listing page here: https://allinpets.com/pets/cats/tonkinese/

Screens not being a real barrier keeps coming up in these threads, good thing the vet caught it for you too. There's a solid piece explaining this exact misconception: https://allinpets.com/blog/dogs/heartworm-prevention-for-dogs-doses-testing-and-treatment-63/
